The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reviewed its policy on changing candidates’ registered phone numbers and email addresses, allowing candidates who have genuinely lost access to their registered contact details to update them through a controlled verification process.
The new arrangement took effect on Monday, September 21, 2026, and is available to candidates who can no longer access the SIM card or email account linked to their JAMB records.
WHAT HAS CHANGED?
Under the reviewed policy, eligible candidates can request to change:
- Their registered GSM/phone number
- Their registered email address
- Both their phone number and email address
The process is subject to identity and biometric verification and is available only through designated JAMB centres and applicable JAMB State Offices.
REQUIREMENTS
Candidates seeking to use the service should have:
✅ A new phone number and/or email address to be registered
✅ A duly executed court affidavit, prepared and available for upload
Candidates are also required to undergo the prescribed identity and biometric verification process before the requested changes can be effected.
WHERE CAN THE REQUEST BE PROCESSED?
The request must be handled at designated JAMB service centres, including applicable Professional Testing Centres (PTCs), Professional Registration Centres (PRCs), accredited CBT centres and JAMB State Offices where the service is available.
Candidates are advised not to rely on unauthorized agents or individuals claiming to offer the service outside approved JAMB channels.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
The phone number/email change service is a one-time service. Candidates should therefore ensure that their new contact details are entered correctly before submitting the request.
The policy is particularly intended to assist candidates who have genuinely lost access to the credentials originally attached to their JAMB profiles, while maintaining safeguards against impersonation, fraud and unauthorized alterations of candidate records.
