JOINT ADMISSIONS AND MATRICULATION BOARD (JAMB) INTRODUCES NATIONAL DIGITAL PRE-REGISTRATION APP FOR 2027 UTME

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has introduced a National Digital Pre-Registration App (NDPA) ahead of the 2027 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The initiative is designed to make the UTME registration process faster, easier and less prone to avoidable errors by allowing prospective candidates to complete important preparatory activities on their mobile phones before visiting an accredited registration centre.

WHAT CANDIDATES CAN DO WITH THE APP

Under the new arrangement, prospective candidates will be able to use their phones to prepare for registration, including:

Selecting courses and programmes

Checking eligibility

Confirming UTME subject combinations

Verifying personal information

Reviewing admission requirements

Checking and verifying NIN-related information

JAMB said particular attention would be given to candidates' personal information, including details obtained from the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).

APP DESIGNED TO SUPPORT DIFFERENT MOBILE PHONES

According to JAMB, the NDPA is designed to work across different types of mobile phones and can support activities even without an active data connection.

The app will also feature a scanning function intended to identify and help prevent common errors during the preparation stage.

PHYSICAL REGISTRATION WILL STILL BE REQUIRED

The introduction of the NDPA does not replace the official UTME registration process.

Candidates will still be required to visit an accredited JAMB registration centre to complete the official registration, verification, biometric capture and other required procedures.

The new arrangement is intended to make registration centres more of a final verification point rather than the first place where candidates make all their registration decisions.

JAMB expects the system to reduce the time candidates spend at registration centres and minimise errors resulting from hurried decisions during registration.

JAMB'S DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION AGENDA

The initiative forms part of the ongoing digital reforms under JAMB Registrar and Chief Executive, Professor Segun Aina. JAMB officially identifies Prof. Segun Aina as the Board's current Registrar and Chief Executive.

The Board said further details regarding the rollout, access and operational procedures for the National Digital Pre-Registration App will be communicated as preparations for the 2027 UTME progress.

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO 2027 UTME CANDIDATES

Prospective candidates are advised to follow official JAMB announcements regarding the availability and use of the NDPA.

Candidates should also ensure that their personal information, particularly NIN-related details, is accurate before completing the registration process.
