The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued an advisory concerning candidates from previous admission sessions who still have unresolved admission offers on their JAMB CAPS profiles.
Candidates with previous admission offers that were neither accepted nor properly rejected are advised to check their CAPS profiles and resolve any outstanding admission status before the 2026 admission exercise progresses.
WHY THIS MATTERS
An unresolved previous admission may create issues during the current admission process, particularly where a candidate's CAPS profile still reflects an earlier admission.
Candidates should therefore take the following possible issues seriously:
Admission processing issues: An unresolved previous admission may affect the processing of a new admission.
Conflicting admission records: Candidates may encounter complications where CAPS still reflects a previous admission offer.
Possible loss of admission opportunity: Failure to resolve outstanding issues may affect a candidate's current admission process.
Delayed admission processing: Candidates may experience delays while their previous admission record remains unresolved.
HOW TO CHECK AND RESOLVE A PREVIOUS ADMISSION
Candidates should follow the steps below:
1. Log in to your JAMB CAPS profile using your registered email address and password.
2. Go to “Admission Status.”
3. Check whether there is any previous admission offer from an earlier admission session.
4. If you have an old admission offer that you no longer intend to take up, follow the appropriate procedure provided on the JAMB platform to resolve the admission status.
5. Confirm that the update has been properly reflected on your profile.
⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTICE
Candidates should not rely solely on previous admission issues when checking their eligibility for the 2026 admission exercise.
Other discrepancies in candidates' records may also create problems during admission processing. These may include:
Name mismatch or incorrect arrangement of names
Errors in date of birth
Incorrect Local Government Area (LGA) information
Loss of access to the registered email address or phone number
NIN-related issues
Other inconsistencies in personal or registration information
Candidates are therefore advised to carefully review their JAMB profiles and ensure that their personal information is accurate and consistent with their official documents.
Candidates should also avoid using third parties to make unnecessary changes to their JAMB profiles. Where correction or clarification is required, they should follow JAMB's approved procedures.
